I
decided to stay and participate in the closing ceremonies. What a
fantastic ending to my Olympic journey. Parading through the stadium
again with my fellow Olympians – from all the
delegations – is something I won’t soon forget.
I’d
like to take a brief minute to thank all the fans, supporters,
sponsors, teammates, coaches – all of you who have been part of this. I
had a wonderful time in London and I couldn’t
have done it without all of your help and support.
I
hope I made you all proud by the way I competed. I would have liked to
medal but I’ll settle for three personal records. Who knows what will
happen for the next Olympics in Rio. I
plan to be there, but I’ll take a little time to rest and reflect on
this most recent experience.
For
now, it is back to training and getting back to the normalcy of
everyday life. While much has been written about my personal challenges
leading into the Olympics, I was fortunate
to have Solve Media step in as asponsor to give me an extra boost when I
needed it. I previously mentioned the company in
a post.
Solve Media and I are thinking of different ways to spread the core
message of this blog – strength is beauty – so keep a look out for us.
If you are not familiar with it already, Solve Media (www.solvemedia.com)
is an advertising technology and
security company. They change CAPTCHA security– the boxes that ask you
to input squiggly text to prove that you are a human – into ads that ask
you to type in the brand message from the advertiser. They even created
an ad unit for me!
These ads are incredibly memorable and powerful.
Again,
thank you all for supporting me and reading this blog. The London
Olympics may be over, but there’s plenty left for me to accomplish.
Stay
strong!
Sarah
You are on a fabulous journey and I can't wait to see what you do and where you go next!
ReplyDeleteHi, Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI dug out your class picture from 3rd grade. Of the 20 kids I can name 4 of them, which proves you made an impression even at the age of 8! I intend to have a "Sarah Robles" bulletin board up in my classroom this fall. We are already bragging about you. Again, congratulations on all of your accomplishments.
Mrs. Reid
Three personal records? Excellent! Brava!
ReplyDeleteAnd hurrah to Solve for stepping up, what a great company!
Also the verification thing on here is horrible, I've tried at least a dozen times to enter but the words are so distorted they're nearly impossible to read. :( Try wordpress, way better blog solution :)
Wow, congratulations to you and your new sponsor!
ReplyDeleteWell done for having acquitted yourself so well in the Olympics. Everyone competing in London wanted a medal, but most importantly everyone wanted to do the best they could and to represent the various countries they are from as well as they could - you certainly did that!
I hope you enjoyed spending time here in England, it's pretty different to your home, but I hope we all made you feel welcome!
