Less than two weeks to the start of the Olympics. It will be both the end of a journey and the beginning of one. It’s the end of my training but my quest for the gold really starts now that I’m in London.
The support, both public and personal has been critical to getting to this point and I’m excited to know that my story and the focus of this blog have resonated with people across the country and the world. Beauty really IS strength.
By far the most interesting organization to latch onto our message is Solve Media (www.solvemedia.com). Solve is an advertising technology company. They had the brilliant idea to turn those CAPTCHA authentication boxes – you know those things you get when you have to verify your identity that have all that squiggly text – into advertising for companies like Toyota and Expedia. Here’s what they look like (http://www.solvemedia.com/client-showcase).
Solve contacted me because they wanted to partner with an Olympic weightlifter. Solve’s advertising lifts brand awareness, so while I lift weights; they lift brands. And they believe the ability to achieve massive lift – whether measured in pounds or awareness – is powerful and beautiful.
I’m excited to have Solve Media and the company’s network cheering me on this for these games, and I’m thrilled they recognize the skill and dedication required to be an Olympic weightlifter. Check out this article about Solve’s involvement with me and my fellow Olympic team member Brady Ellison --http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/jeffmetcalfe/166610.
I just read about you on Jezebel and googled up your blog. I'm in Australia, don't follow sport so had never heard of you until today. But wow ladies, bravo to you both. Amazing skills and bravery for training so hard despite being ignored by the boys club that is anything Olympic etc. Extraordinary. I hope you kick some butt in London!
ReplyDeleteHi! I also stumbled across your blog. You have some great and encouraging thoughts here! So glad to hear Solve Media getting on board as a sponsor. My husband and I will be cheering for you from New Jersey!
ReplyDeleteYay! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping for all PRs in London!
I'm so happy to see you getting some press finally! I'm also happy that you found a sponsor. Shame on other companies for ignoring strong women! You go and show 'em next week!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Wish you all the best in London!
